Houston, Texas was the birthplace of Bo back in 1974. He was moved around quite a bit and attended 6 different schools in 3 years, not counting his 2 weeks in kindergarten. He and his brothers were pretty much raised by their grandparents (God bless 'em) After a few years living in South Texas, they all packed up and moved to Oklahoma.
Bo went to high school in Buffalo Valley which is a small town in Southeastern Oklahoma about an hour southeast of McAlester. There were only 10 people in Bo's graduating class, making him the only person in the top 10%. His high school agriculture teacher, Michael Kennedy, was his inspiration to do something with his life and not become a statistic.
While attending B.V. he picked up the guitar for the first time at the age of 9. He taught himself to play by using a guitar book with three chords in it. He then became addicted to Austin City Limits (PBS was the only station that came in all the time) and began learning other songs.
He graduated with honors and went on to attend junior college in the city of Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Oklahoma was where Bo started to really develop his playing and singing. While skipping classes, Bo jammed with friends and started to broaden his musical scope. He graduated E.O.S.C. with a degree in Agricultural Economics. The only class he attended with any consistency was Ag-Mechanics.
Bo moved to Stillwater to continue his degree in Agriculture. He changed it from Ag-Economics to Ag-Education. He was on his way to becoming an ag-teacher. Bo worked three full time jobs, and carried a full-time load at OSU, but finally graduated. He was the first person on either side of his family to ever graduate college.
But more importantly, Bo was becoming more involved with the music industry. One of his jobs was at the legendary Tumbleweed. Here is where he met many musicians and learned the in's and out's about entertainment. He would watch the artists and pick up little pieces of information from them in order to make himself the best he could be. This is where he developed an appreciation for all types of music. He prides himself in listening to many different genres of music. Anywhere from classic rock with Skynyrd, old country with Waylon, new country with Alan, R&B with Nellie, even a little rap with Snoop Dogg. This diverse exposure puts a rich blend into the performance Bo gives on stage.
After being an ag-teacher for six years, Bo decided it was about time that he pursue his lifelong dream...music. After careful consideration, he resigned his job and dove head first into the music world never to look back. Now, Bo is being booked by some of the top venues in the state and has played at many venues in Texas, Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado.
