You can also find us at: | | After years of playing any honky tonk or patio bar that would book him, Mike Ethan Messick has made a name for himself on the Texas scene with his debut CD Bootlegger’s Turn, released in early 2007. His songs, including “American Steel” and “Kings Of Juarez”, have found radio airplay in several Texas markets (especially Bryan/College Station, his former home before a recent move to Austin) as well as Internet radio outlets all over the world. Messick had already kept a semi-high profile opening shows for the likes of Ray Wylie Hubbard, Cory Morrow, Mike McClure and Adam Carroll, and several of his songs had been recorded by other artists (most notably the comical regional hit “The Everclear Song” by Roger Creager). Reviewers and fellow artists have compared his sound and songwriting to the likes of Steve Earle and Bruce Springsteen, and his engaging acoustic performances have made him a welcome presence at song swaps and solo shows around the state (usually held, once again, at any honky tonk or patio bar that will book him).
