From the honky tonks of Northeast Oklahoma, to the stage of Rowdy Float Trip 09, to the legendary Cheatham St. Warehouse in San Marcos, TX, Josh Boyles has been turning heads and establishing a reputation as one of the top young up and coming songwriters in the Oklahoma-Texas country music scene. In the relatively short time that he’s been on the road, the Claremore native by way of Houston, TX and Calgary, AB has shared the stage or the bill with such talented and well known artists as Walt Wilkins, Rich O’Toole, Texas Renegade, Rodney Parker & 50 Peso Reward, John Evans Band, Hunter McKithan & the Offenders, Forest Wayne Allen, Mike Ethan Messick, Ben Morris & the Great American Boxcar Chorus, Matt Harlan, Roger Cowan, Slow Rollin’ Lows, and Phil Pritchett just to name a few; and his self-produced album “A Little Bit Rowdy” has been picked up by stations in the southern United States as well as ones as far out as 2GLF in Sydney, Australia. Josh’s first single from that album, Gypsy Soul, skyrocketed to number 1 on the Radiofreetexas.org Weekly Top 40 in July of 09, and each of his subsequent releases have since reached the top 10. Drawing on influences spanning from modern day Red Dirt icons such as Jason Boland and Cross Canadian Ragweed to the solid country gold of Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and George Jones; Josh has established a style that is all his own. Generally armed on stage with just his acoustic guitar, wit, and southern charm, he has a way of engaging audiences that leaves them thoroughly entertained and coming back for more. Currently, Josh is preparing to head into the studio to record his debut studio produced record this summer. Until then, he plans on heading, as he states in his crowd pleaser Guitar Pickin’ Man, “anywhere that they’ll allow me to pick on these ol’ six strings” and doing what he does best: Write and perform songs meant to move audiences to dance; to drink; yes, to cry; and, above all, to think.
